Michael Thonet No. 20 Bentwood Chair (Cane Back) by Ton

The Michael Thonet No. 20 Bentwood Chair is widely used in cafes, restaurants, offices, and homes due to its aesthetic appeal and increased comfort from the upholstered ring in the back.

In 1860, Gebruder Thonet introduced a bentwood rocking chair that would take this piece from being something for the aristocracy to a chair of comfort for the middle class.  This marketing-to-the-masses approach became the company's cornerstone through its first rocking chair and the A14 Bentwood Chair.  The A14 Bentwood Chair eventually attained the name “chair for mass consumption.”  Deviations from the A14 Bentwood Chair, such as the No. 20 Bentwood Chair, soon also grew in popularity.

Made in the Czech Republic by Ton.
